Favorite Historical Use of Photography

Traveling to New York City has truly been a blessing. The History of Photography class is definitely a class I would love to take again. It was informative, very visual and interactive. I got to meet new people and get closer to the ones I never really had the opportunity to do when I was back on campus. My life has definitely changed for the better thanks to this class. My personal experience was absolutely everything to me on this trip. I caught up with a friend of mine who lives there and he showed me exactly what I wanted to see in New York, and I can't wait to come back later on. For the class project we picked what historical use of photography we liked best and I decided to do a composite of photographs. They are all of me while I was in New York, all posed and intentional. I chose this style because they relate to the paper that I am working on for this class about African American Identity in Photography. This past year has been crucial to me when it has come to personal identity and general identity as a Black American and I wanted the focal point of these pictures to be me. I know, I can't get enough of myself.
